Sausage Casserole


Ingredients (to serve 10 children)

600g sausages, approx 2 chipolatas per child minimum 70% pork, gluten free

1 beef stock cube, gluten free and low salt, prepared according to instructions (contains celery)

500g tomato passata

3 tsp tomato puree

500g beans (chickpeas, borlotti or mixed beans)

200g fresh or frozen kale

1 tbsp cornflour

600g new potatoes

600g green beans



  1. Cut the sausages into thirds and cook to seal all sides
  2. Place in the slow cooker with the stock and tomatoes
  3. Drain the beans and add to the slow cooker
  4. Cook on low for 6-7 hours
  5. 20 minutes before serving, add the kale
  6. Just before serving, mix in the cornflour with a small amount of water, add to the casserole to thicken the gravy
  7. Boil new potatoes for 30minutes and drain to serve
  8. Cook vegetables according to taste
